First Spring in Arizona - Two Art Shows

Blog Time

Finally, I can say that my new website has been launched. After months of recreating my content, photographs, layout and design, I called technical support in India and she walked me through and did the finishing touches for re-directing my website.

Now, you can click and purchase on any item. You can see my new show schedule, which includes all of my out-of-town shows, including Sedona, Arizona and Austin, Texas in October 2015!

I am so happy and excited to launch not only my new website but my new look and attitude falling into a beautiful new season: Autumn.

First Spring in Arizona - Two Art Shows

Susie Larsson

I have been very busy in my studio, working on filling up my drawers with new inventory. I was accepted into the Tempe Arts Festival which takes place the second weekend in March (March 7 - 9). It took several more weeks until I found out that I was also accepted into Litchfield Park’s Art & Wine Festival which takes place the first weekend in March (March 1-2).

For the past 12 years, I have made the 1,500 mile trek from Seattle and down to Arizona in the springtime. I feel extremely grateful that I am able to do so much travel with my chosen profession as a jewelry artist. One of the bigger reasons of traveling to the Southwest every spring is because up north, our art festival season does not start until mid-June and the bulk of the art shows are July and August.

I have joked to my friends about experiencing two springs each year. Our spring in the Pacific Northwest seems to start at the end of March or early April with flowers beginning to bloom, the bright yellow daffodils showing up on lawns and more days of blue sky and sunshine. We do get so much rain because I live in an area that gets so much rainfall.

I ALWAYS look forward to my first shows of the season in Arizona. People are outside wearing shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops! That doesn’t happen at home. I can break out my spring/summer clothes and look forward to warmer days, plenty of sunshine and hikes in the desert.

Going back to Arizona is almost like going back home. I did live in Phoenix from 2000 - 2003. Unfortunately, I was living in the hottest place in Arizona and the heat was excruciating for me. I feel fortunate that I can drive down to Arizona through Washington, Oregon, Iadho and Nevada (I drive through the desert to avoid California traffic) and end up in a happier, warmer place.

Hope to see you at one of the shows this spring. I will bring Kaela to the shows and hopefully everything will go smoothly. If you read one of my earlier blogs, I had issues with her in Bend, Oregon when she was sick after eating something she shouldn’t just a few hours before the start of my show. I don’t want to hand her off to some random person I find on Rover.com, although the people who did watch her in Redmond, OR and Sedona, AZ last fall were amazing people. I want her to be with me on the road as a companion and share mty experiences with her.

Hope you are well. Enjoy 2025 and stay healthy and happy.

Susie
