The End of 2020 & The Promise of 2021
Susie Larsson
The end of 2020 is just a few days away and I am in my studio making sure that I am continuing to create beautiful, hand-crafted jewelry for the promise of a new year.
What is interesting is that I took 2019 for my year off from art shows, little did I know that 2020 should have been my “voluntary” year off from art shows. It wouldn’t have come as such a let-down when shows started cancelling in March 2020.
My jewelry business was put on hold for months, until now. I have been working part-time at Amazon since the beginning of May and spent so much time outdoors, enjoying the playground in this beautiful state that I call home.
In years past, I have been on the road for months at a time. In early spring, February and March, and again in the summer months of June through September, I have had the privilege of visiting so many new and interesting places to show and sell my jewelry; Oregon, Idaho, Arizona and Colorado. This year, the shows were cancelled and I stayed home and hiked and swam and bicycled and picked blueberries in August when I wasn’t working my “regular” job. It has been wonderful to discover new places which could only be 100 miles or less from my home by Silver Lake.
It appears that shows have been scheduled and will happen in 2021. For the past 5 years, my first show of the year would always be the Tubac Festival of the Arts in February for 5 days. I need to be cautious next year, so I decided to pass on this show, but I am confirmed and scheduled for the SCOTTSDALE ARTS FESTIVAL the second weekend in March. That was the last show I walked into and found out that they were cancelled. We will try again this year and find out if this will work.
Meanwhile, back in my studio, I will continue to create and make new and classic designs. I hope to see you at the next show in Scottsdale, March 11 - March 15, 2021.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021!
Susie
