Vacation in Sweden
Susie Larsson
I am finally feeling like I can relax after two weeks in Sweden for a much needed vacation. I had shows booked back to back since April. I told myself I wouldn't wait until the last minute to pack, but I did. My sister picked me up at 5:30 am two weeks ago and I didn't go to bed until 1:45 am and still wasn't finished packing!
It has been great to leave my shows, jewelry, festivals, cell phone and email for a couple weeks to return to Sweden where I have relatives on my Mother's and Father's side. It really feels like coming home.
Luckily, my Swedish has not completely disappeared from my brain. I am still able to read, converse and understand most, but not everything.
This trip has not only been a vacation but a chance to meet my relatives, stay in small villages with little to no traffic or pollution. So quiet and peaceful.
I visited Jämtland, an area in Sweden where I worked one summer at a hotel and famous training place for elite and amateur athletes, Vålådalen. Fresh, mountain air, a reindeer sighting, gourmet food and four days of hiking. It was absolutely fantastic and exactly what I needed.
I leave for home in one week and know that as soon as I land and get back home, I will go right back to working long hours and hope to make some new designs.
